Taking care of backups with Laravel (Freek)
Thanks to all the excellent resources on server management many developers are now setting up and administrating their own servers. If you are one of them you can’t count on anybody else but yourself to backup the data of your clients.
We’ll cover the backup issues presented when using modern hosting such as Linode and DigitalOcean. Then we’ll review some enterprise grade solutions. Finally we’ll dive deep into implementing a backup system using Laravel 5’s filesystem abstraction.
Wie is Freek?
Freek Van der Herten is a partner and developer at Spatie, a small Antwerp based company that specializes in creating web apps. After hours he writes about modern PHP and Laravel on his blog: https://murze.be. When not coding he’s probably rehearsing with his kraut-rock band.

Who is Ben?
A long-time developer of PHP-based sites and commerce solutions, Ben has focused on Magento since 2008. He joined the Magento team in 2014 to help represent Magento to the developer world and vice versa. He’s appeared in several training videos, delivered over 2000 hours of in-person and online training, and advised on the Magento certification programs. These days he is helping to spread the word (and to hear feedback) about the latest and most advanced open source commerce solution: Magento 2.
