Monthly Meetup – January 2018

With Christmas and New Year’s parties behind us it’s time again for some tech talks! The adoption of containerized infrastructure grew enormously over the last year. However many questions remain: “is it stable?”, “is it ready for production?”, “how does deploying work?”

Our speaker this month Joshua Thijssen, once a ‘non-believer’ himself, is convinced the technology is ready. He will talk about his experiences running containers in production on one of today’s most popular orchestration tools: Kubernetes.

Our friends at Inspire ( will once again welcome us with food & drinks in their beautiful office. This promises to be a good start of the year!

19:00 – Doors open with food & drinks
19:30 – Welcome
19:35 – Talk: Kubernetes for Non-Believers
20:25 – Raffle & News
20:30 – Social!

Containerizing your apps is the future, but running a single container is not the same as running a production-sized cluster with tens or hundreds of microservices.
Here is where kubernetes can play a large role. During this talk Joshua will
demonstrate in a live (yes live) the basics of Kubernetes, how to deploy your apps, and how Kubernetes in general helps you manage your applications in an easy way.

Joshua Thijssen (@JayTaph ( is a freelance consultant/developer/trainer and a regular conference speaker. He enjoys working on complex systems, code optimization, server administration and fine tuning. Joshua thinks scalability is getting increasingly important for the web. Kubernetes can contribute a lot to this!
